Recycling, data, and waste management in Europe

We know that the European Green Deal prioritizes the transition to sustainable practices. That Europe believes strongly in the circular economy and is laying the foundation for a new green economy paradigm. The Waste Framework Directive is the main legislative instrument for waste management and treatment in the EU. The emphasis is on waste prevention while landfilling is considered a last resort. To comply with the directive's objectives, EU member states must implement measures that address specific recycling targets within certain timeframes.
